Sherri was born to parents whom bred and raised Shetland show ponies. In 1982 she married a "city boy". Longing to own horses again, she bought her husband their first Arabian for his birthday. How could he turn down such an exotic gift?! 15 years later, they own 4 purebred Arabian Mares, 2 Half-Arabian mares, and a Saddlebred mare. Soon it was decided that Amore Arabians needed its own exquisite breeding stallion. After an exhausting search, (and kissing many frogs,) the family purchased kind, big-hearted Romeo V from famed breeder Sheila Varian. Gordon and Sherri look forward to the show season and wish all a healthy, happy year.

Sharon Hanks has been the Secretary for the club since Dec 2007. She has had a love of horses her whole life. Her love for Arabians was founded when she was a young girl and read all of the Walter Farley “Black Stallion” books. She didn’t have horses growing up, but caught rides on friends’ and families’ horses wherever and whenever she could, and took lessons every chance she got. For college PE she took jumping at OSU for two quarters. She finally got to be the proud owner of her own horse in Feb 1999, when she purchased BJ Star Bright, a purebred Arabian mare. Later she purchased the half-Arabian mare Summer Skies and showed her for several years, before retiring her. Currently she enjoys trail riding with Star.
Denise Mealy was elected OVAHA's Treasurer for 2010. Denise owns her own graphic design business, Artistic Inspirations in Tipp City, Ohio. As a child, Denise owned a Half Arabian/Half Tennessee Walker gelding. Three years ago, she purchased Princess, a Tennessee Walker. She and her husband, Paul have enjoyed trail riding with the OVAHA members ever since. Two years later, they discovered that Princess was pasture bred to an Arabian. Their Half Arabian colt, Baron will be a yearling on 2/1/10. Denise and Paul love trail riding and have become friends with many of the OVAHA members. Suzy Zech kindly gave Denise her 13 year old gelding, Keister so she and her husband can ride together. This family has now become serious owners of Half Arabians! Denise thought it would be a good idea to become a member of OVAHA. Denise looks forward to being an active and supportive member of OVAHA as Treasurer.
Marcia has been involved with horses off and on since age ten and has had Arabians since 1989. A member of OVAHA since 1992, she has consistently been a board member, the Recreational Riding program manager, the show manager of the Summer Sizzler, or President (sometimes more than one at a time). She is the owner of 2 purebreds - Wyntrs Grey Dawn, shown in multiple disciplines, is now retired and the "matriarch" of the stable. Wyntrs Khato, a gelding, shows Class A, Regional and National levels in western and trail where he placed 9th at the US Nationals in 2006 in Trail.

Having different breeds of horses all my life, from Quarter horses to Paso Fino's, I settled in w/Arabians 18 years ago because of their versatility, intelligence, beauty and ability to bond so closely to their owners. I still own my very first Arabian who has taught me, loved me and dumped me.....(into a stream during a fast endurance ride) :) I have enjoyed competitive endurance rides, class A shows, light breeding and mostly trail riding in Indiana, Mo. and Illinois. This year, I will be more focused on showing after my purchase of a wonderful stallion from Toskhara Arabians.
In 2007, I joined OVAHA to become more educated & active in this incredible breed. Joining OVAHA has been a great motivator for me. Volunteering at horse shows, clinics, fund raising (Strawberry Festival), philanthropy & the AHA Convention has been a great experience which has allowed me to meet some great friends along the way. I am grateful to be a board member of this club that has a bright future.
Also, a Sizzler Commitee member.
Wife & proud mother of 2 wonderful boys.

My hometown is Troy, Ohio, and I currently live in Eaton, Ohio. I've been involved with Arabian horses since 1977. I own and show a Half-Arabian/NSH mare named CA Marissa in halter and country pleasure. I'm also a member and director in OHAHA and MNSHA, as well as a life member of AHA. In addition, I'm a 4-H horse advisor, and was a 4-H member for nine years.....showing against David Cusac, Tammy Hawkey, Julie Puckett, and Liz Wright Moore. I was also a member of CSHSA in the early 1980's. Those were some of the best horse shows! To fund my horse habit, I teach third grade. This is my 22nd year of teaching. When I retire, I plan on continuing to show whenever and wherever!
